Judith Martin

Judith M Martin of Wheaton  and Arlington Heights IL is a certified member of the International Society of Appraisers. Judith is a past Member of the Board of Directors serving from 2007-2012, while on the BOD, Judith served as President of ISA from 2009 - 2011.  She also served as Secretary for the BOD 2007 - 2009.

Ms. Martin is Certified in Antiques and Residential Contents along with Fine Art, having passed her exams and peer review of appraisal work. She is qualified to appraise general personal property ranging from antiques to contemporary furnishings as well as silver, porcelain, glassware and many varied types of property.  Ms Martin is also qualified to appraise fine art including paintings, prints, sculptures, etc.  Her specialty is correct appraisal methodology for the project at hand.

Ms Martin was an instructor of the ISA Appraisal Theory and Methodology course before retiring from that position 2026 .  She served as Director of Education from 2022 through 2025 and has been a contributor to the manual and exams within the course.  Previous to being hired as the Director of Education and her Position on the Board of Director Ms. Martin served as the Chair of Appraisal Studies for over 4 years. She left that position to take her elected post to the ISA Board of Directors in 2007. She was voted President in October 2009 by acclimation.

Judith is the founder of The Perfect Thing Inc located in Wheaton Illinois. The high end consignment shop is considered one of the finest in the country. The shop is open to the public  and is now operated by her daughter Kate Martin ISA AM . The shop sells well over 1million dollars in fine furnishings, paintings, tableware, collectables, rugs and more per year. Judith still operates The Perfect Thing Estate Sales Inc,  a licensed Auction Firm in the State of Illinois that conducts large estate and/or moving sales directly from the premises. Formerly known as M & M Sales, Judith has been in the estate liquidation business for over 30 years.

Judith has received the ISA Lifetime Achievement Award, 2016,  ISA Presidents Award, 2008 and 2023,  Lamp of Knowledge Award 2007, Outstanding Member 2000, and numerous service awards from ISA. She has been active member of the local Greater Illinois Chapter of ISA for over 25 years. Ms Martin was also a lead talent in the National Television Series " What the Sell!"  along with your daughter Kate Martin ISA AM  and her mother Gloria Moroni ISA CAPP  (deceased) showcasing three generations of appraisers and their daily work life.    Ms Martin was also a guest appraiser on the PAX network show Treasures in Your Home from 1998 - 2000. Currently she is one of the guest appraisers on Collectors Call for Weigel Communications airing on MeTV. She is a well known public speaker on appraising and antiques.
