Marilyn Fisher

Marilyn Fisher is the principal appraiser with Fisher Appraisals West, LLC, and holds a Master of Art History Degree in Western American Fine Art.

In 2005 the University of California, Irvine (UCI) awarded her an American Society of Appraisers certificate for completion of required courses in Personal Property Appraisal Studies, having met intensive coursework as required by the strict guidelines of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Fisher's expertise includes 30 years of museum curatorial and collections management experience as well as art valuation studies. She has clients throughout the Southwestern United States. Prior to establishing her own practice, she interned under highly respected ASA art appraisers.

Past employers include: the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County; The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library (National Archives and Records Administration); The Western Heritage Center, Prescott, AZ; and Rancho del Cielo, The Reagan Ranch Presidential Homesite, Santa Barbara, CA.

Fisher earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Framingham College, MA, and a certificate of studies in archaeological illustration from Harvard University at Cambridge, MA. She later received her Master of Arts Degree from California State University at Northridge, where she majored in American Western Art, completing her dissertation on The Western Art of Charles Marion Russell (William S. Hart Museum, Newhall, CA).

Her extensive curatorial work and studies have given her a unique, expansive knowledge of the art world. In addition to completing numerous fine and decorative art valuations, she is also published on various topics of Western American Art and U.S. Presidential Collections.

In addition, she is a consultant for private collections management. She has in the past served on the boards of the Prescott Western Heritage Center, Prescott, AZ, the Santa Barbara Carriage and Western Art Museum, anta Barbara, CA; and, the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum and Carriage House, Santa Ynez, CA, and as interim director and advisor for the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum, Santa Ynez, CA.

Fisher specializes in the valuation of Western American Fine Art, Southwestern Art, US Presidential Archives, and Stained-glass Panels.
